Pallava Dynasty mastered the art of carving temples out of rock. Tiruchirapalli has its own share of these treasures. This hidden treasure is located on Rock fort temple complex which is called “Lower rock cave temple”

This unfinished temple dated 640 D to 670 AD. This temple was being built during Narashimavaran I . He was an influential King in South India.

The rock carved includes sculptures. These structure served as places of worship , shelter for Yogis.

Uchi Pilliyar Koil is very popular temple in Tiruchirapalli. Start climbing this hillock. Take the road on left side leading to Lower Rock Temple. This is not a popular tourist location. You may have to inquire to reach.
